I thought I share some things I learned while living in a tropical climate like Hawaii for the last 1 1/2 years, in how to stay cool, for all you heat-wavers out there:
* Dress appropriately. Covering yourself in loose fitting natural fabrics such as cotton and linen, absorbs moist and protect you from harmful sun-rays. Black attracts heat, so choose white or colors.
* Drink quality water. Make sure that you not only drink water, but purified, clean and either naturally carbonated with salts, or added electrolytes and potassium.
* Eat more fruit and vegetables. When we sweat, we also loose C-vitamin which makes us more prone to get sick, unless we replenish our sources, such as with more fruit, juices and smoothies.
* Avoid ice in your drink. When the body is hot and gets shocked by cold, it takes more energy to absorb and assimilate, which makes you even more tired and hot. Hot herbal teas or room-temperatured drinks is better for your tummy.
* Cool down your pulse points, such as your wrists, ankles and neck, with cold water.
* Re-arrange your work and activity schedule to early mornings and late nights.
* Stay inside with windows closed, so you don't let the heat in.
* If you need to go in and out a lot, avoid the air-conditioning and opt for a fan. Again, it takes more energy for the body to adjust between extremes than getting used to overall heat.
* Pay extra attention to hygiene while cooking and storing left-overs to avoid harmful bacteria.
* Take antihistamin if it becomes hard to breathe.
* Slow down and take a nap :)

Lol I LOVE this post, seeing as I'll be heading to hawaii next year (wish me luck!)
Thanks for putting it up here, and I gotta say, I seriously lovee your blog. The header looks really cute!
Thanks, and you're welcome! It's not so bad, the weather here always balances itself with tradewinds and rain inbetween the hot days. Right now it's about 87, which is quite comfortable :)
Aloha,
